    9mm 5" 1911s

If both were available would you choose a 9mm Remington 1911 Enhanced or a STI Trojan for about $500 more? I had initially hoped to stay under $1K.

Since I want good adjustable sights, If I went with the Remington I'd have to eventually spend money to upgrade the sights.

I've even thought about being more budget minded and going with a RIA Spartan or Taurus PT1911.

I'm wanting a full size 1911 in 9mm for a fun gun. It won't be used for concealed carry. I'd like to try to get into IDPA. But, my initial thought is the stock service pistol class (Sig P226). So, unless I bump classes it won't be used there.

Anything else I should put on the short list to consider?

A friend of mine runs an STI at our local shoots, and he whips us all easily. Seems to be quite a gun.

I went with the Kimber Stainless II. I absolutely LOVE it.

The target is 10 shots at 15 yards.

Since you want to stay under a grand you might look at the Springfield 9mm Range Officer, it's a lot of gun for the money.

If I were going to get a 9mm 5" 1911. I'd go with the DW Pointman Nine. Seems to have what your asking for, including adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front. Only catch may be pricing. MSRP is $1550., actual retail would probably be in the $1350-1450. range.

I have a. RIA in 9mm and it great for the money. I will have to change the sights as they are just fixed black sights. The Springfield Armory Range Officer would have been my first choice, but it was not out yet. The Dan Wesson Pointman would be great. It may be my next purchase. STI would be nice.

I second the recommendation for the Springfield Range Officer 9mm. Lot of gun for the money.

    ^^^ This! No contest.

Problem is, they're pretty scarce. A recent sale on Armslist had one NIB for $1250.

Why is the PM sold under CZ-USA?

Because CZ-USA owns the Dan Wesson line. After suffering for years under multiple owners with production and capitalization problems, CZ bought it and it seems to be thriving and not outgrowing itself.
