Well Just Entered The 1911 Club

So yesterday I traded a Rossi m68 snub nose .38 for a custom built 1911 in of course .45 acp. Thing is, I've never owned a 1911 before so I know very little about them. I would like any information on the gun you guys can give me on my new gun acquisition. Its a Foster ind frame, Wilson Combat Slide, and G.I. spec internals. Needs to be refinished, but otherwise is pretty darn sweet. The slide is rock solid to the frame, and the slide feels as though its riding on ice its sooo smooth. Trigger is light, and very crisp. Feels very well put togeather, well balanced. So what do you guys think Its worth? Do you guys think I got a good deal trading my Rossi for it? I do plan to carry it sometimes, but it isn't my only carry gun. my usual ccw is my sweet Taurus M85 in stainless, and she is a permanent resident.

Here is a pic of the new .45

I would say that's a pretty darn good trade man. 1911's are sweet and if you use it enough you will grow to love it

Welcome to the club! Learn it's manual of arms and it should never let you down. Be forewarned...1911's tend to multiply.

YOUR "Foster" frame is very likely a Caspian Arms frame with a cosmetic blemish. That would get it stamped just Foster, Ind.
And...you have a WILSON Combat magazine there.
So basically you have a Caspian frame with a WILSON slide. So you did pretty doggone good in that trade.

Anyone want to trade a custom 1911 for a Charter Arms Pitbull?...I didn't think so.

Why can't I ever find deals like this?

Great looking 1911, certainly better than my first 1911 (Llama).

Nice. Do you have any idea who built it? The smith who did the work is what will give you some idea of value.

Hamilton Yam's writings will give you tons of info and important facts on the 1911, especially maintenance tips.

How exactly did you manage to trade a rossi for a custom 1911? I really want to know so I can go buy 10 rossi's and make my 1911 collection grow. That would have a been a awesome trade for ay basic phillipine but for a custom gun..... you sir just scored the trad eof a lifetime. You really need to go play the lotto. Congrats on the new gun, we expect a rtange report ASAP
