    Carry Ammo??? What's your favorite?

So I am that guy that forms my own opinion and then watches YouTube videos about a certain topic or item until I've seen them all.

My local gun store swears by Liberty 50gr HP ammo. So I bought some, it pretty and lead free and has a serious punch when being shot. Being new to the carry scene it's hard to know what's going to provide the most stopping power, so I found myself watching every YouTube video I could find on the stuff. It seems awesome, but is it what I should be carrying?

    What do you carry?
    What do you carry 9mm?
What .380 self defense is going to provide the most punch?!

    Thanks guys!

My carry ammo is all from major brands, such as Winchester, Federal , Remington, Hornady, Speer, etc. None is what anyone would call "exotic". No ultra-light for caliber, hyper velocity rounds; no buck-and-ball combo rounds; no odd-shaped disks or multiple projectiles. My 9mm carry ammo is mostly 124 gr +P; .40 is 180 gr; .45 ACP is 230 gr, all JHP. .38 Special is 158 gr lead SWC-HP +P with lighter JHP for reloads.

If you are looking to round out your knowledge, I would look for videos put out by the major ammo manufacturers. Look on their websites for law enforcement areas, which tend to market more based on measurable performance than on what looks sexy to John and Jane Pistoleros. I would say 3/4 of the YouTube videos done by non-professionals are not worth my time. I look at "performance" based on how many water jugs the bullet penetrated and the measured diameter of the expanded bullet as just so much noise. Entertaining, perhaps, but as a career test professional I stop well short of making conclusions based on loose test protocols, uncontrolled boundary conditions (e.g., ambient temperature) and statistical populations of one.

    Cool .45 and .44 magnum

That is an easy one. .45 for humans and .44 magnum for bears.

Now my carry firearm is glock 22. I carry a magazine of hollow points and have an extra magazine of hard ball. Ever get in a fire fight you might have to punch through an object to get the bg.

My favorite is Speer Gold Dot but I carry Hornady Critical Defense. I'm in NJ often and that ammo is legal there.

For 9 em em I like Federal's HST line, with a preference for the 147 grain standard pressure load.

For my .38 snub there is no finer load on the face of this Earth than Remington's Golden Saber 125 grain HPJ (High-Performance Jacket) JHP load.

The wife carries either PDX1 +p 124gr or in her SR9c normally, backed up with spare mag of Critical defense.

I usually have Hornaday Winchester or Critical Defense 165 JHP in SR40C. With a spare mag of course.

My favorite for either of my S&W 40cal are Winchester Ranger, or PDX1. I would also be confident carrying HST's, Golden Sabers, and Critical Defense. These are all of the 165gr variety.

    Critical defense for my SR40c.

If Speer gold dot is good enough for my local pd then it is good enough for me. Leave all the exotics to the zombie hunters....

I like the Hornady Critical Defense and have a lot of it but I've found lately that I get more accuracy from PMC 185 grain HP. I've been using it for about 8 months now and really like it. In addition I've been able to find it at a really good price. $29.95 for a box of 50.

Yep.....right down the line-up. Hard to beat the classic loadings....they became "classics" or "standards" for a reason.
