Picked up a brand new Ruger SR1911, Commander.

Well, I did it again last Tuesday, I purchased another 1911 I didn't necessarily need. I went to my local gunsmith who happens to sell guns as well, and made the mistake of handling a Ruger SR1911, in the full size and Commander size that he'd just gotten in the day before. I already own a Remington, R1 standard 1911 and a Springfield Armory, GI that I've had customized, so I didn't really need another. However, once I felt the Ruger Commander in my hand and got a look at the quality in design and workmanship for what I consider a very reasonable price, I had to have it. I took it home and immediately cleaned and lubed it in preparation for transport to the range. I had to wait a couple days but yesterday I got to shoot it and I was amazed at the accuracy and performance right out of the box. It hits at point of aim perfectly at 20, 30 and 40 feet and operated without a flaw. No break in issues and not one FTF or FTE using Blazer Brass, 230 grain FMJ and Gold Dot, 185 grain HP's. Both rounds fed beautifully from the two magazines that came with the gun. This gun is a definite keeper, beautiful and effective. I couldn't find one thing I didn't like about this Ruger. If I didn't already own two full size 1911's, I'd seriously consider buying the other Ruger right now.

How about some pics? Congrats on the SR1911. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine!

I really like the commander sized 1911's. Both of my 1911's are commanders. I don't have the Ruger, but I did own the 5" version and traded it for 2 commander 1911's of a different brand. You've got a nice 1911, Ruger makes a great 1911 value.

I look at the Ruger 1911s every time I go to my LGS. Full sized is $659.00 and the Commander is 649.00. I already own two 1911s and my EDC is a Glock 30 Gen 2.5. I want to buy but, I just can't justify. Some say that Life's a **tch. They're wrong. Life's a virgin cause a **tch is too easy!

I can sympathize with you . . . I owned two other 1911's and my EDC is a Glock 36, but I just couldn't resist the Ruger, commander.

In addition to my day job, I get some occasional freelance gigs. This is my "gun money."

Have enough now to get an AR, Chiappa, anything that's been calling to me. The S&W 638 2.5in. has been calling me but it's real hard to find.

Most of my guns are Rugers and Smiths because they're just damn fine guns. Was going to pass on the 1911 platform but this thread has me thinking hard. Real hard.
