    New Addition (+ one more)

After a long, antsy day at work, I picked up my newest addition... a new Para Ordnanace Slim Hawg (PSHX645S). After some extensive range time, I hope to replace my XD9sc with the Slim Hawg as my EDC.

My FFL mentioned that he had a used 1911 he was looking to get rid of and asked if I was interested. It ended up being a Springfield Parkerized Mil-Spec (PB9108LP). He said it had about 200 rounds through it (barely broken-in in my opinion) and that he had replaced the stock recoil spring with a Wolf. He included three mags. The price... $300 out the door. I figured why not!

Let me know what you guys think. I will get some range reports posted this weekend.

Well, the Hawg has proven popular with a good many folks but hey - that 1911 sounds way too good a deal to miss - unless something we don't know about!

Reckon you gotta snap that up anyways - even if there happened to be a few things needing doing to it.

Can't have too many 45's. I have been carrying a P-12-45 since 1993 (my wife's wedding present to me)and I love it. It is my primary carry weapon and my American Express (I don't leave home without it).

It sounds like you made some great purchases to me. Enjoy.

My FFL is a pretty good guy. The Mil-Spec came from his own safe and I trust him.

    And now for some pics...

I managed to get to the range yesterday. I shot the Para Ordnance Slim Hawg but not the Mil-Spec. I am completely satisfied with the Slim Hawg, provided a few more range visits and a couple hundred more rounds. While I wasn't shooting for superior groups, I was able to contain all shots within a 6"-diameter (except for the occasional flier due to user error) at 17 yards. I shot 250 rounds of Remington UMC 230 gr FMJ and 30 rounds of Federal 230 gr Hydra-Shok JHP. No problems with either for the duration. For me, the 1911 provides the best grip angle and natural point of sight. The Slim Hawg felt great in my hand and provided an excellent grip. Those with bigger mitts may need an extended mag. Overall I am thoroughly impressed and happy with my new addition. I will continue to add posts with more range visit outcomes.

    And now for some pics...

    Excellent - nice results

Well folks I was lucky enough to handle that very gun Friday late afternoon, when I had the pleasure of meeting Eagle5, as he swung by on his way home.

First time I'd seen one up close and it felt good - very good indeed. Oh and had a feel too of the ''Champ'' - also a nice piece.
