Been looking for one of these for a while.
pre-lock S&W 686-5 .357 2.5" with rosewood grips and as an added bonus it has had a fanastic trigger job. The DA is glass smooth.
I am very excited. Now I have to wait a week to shoot it

I thought for sure you must have bought a Colt. Anyways congratulations on the new 686! I want one.
I'm a fan of both brands. I've got this baby en route my FFL off GB. It is a 686 no dash. I couldn't abide by the new locks either.

Expecting a Colt too but .. hey, that's good too.

When I was a young deputy in the Detroit area, I was issued a Brand New S&W 586 w 4 inch bbl. It was magic... I just couldn't miss. Got into LE Combat competition and usually came out on top. Took the "Governor's 20" in "AA Class" (best in the State) with my well used 4 inch when most went to the 6 inch bbl.
One day I was thinking about the 60k+ rounds I had through it and traded it in on a new S&W model 66 w 4 inch bbl in SS, but it wasn't 'magic'.
Despite unlimited practice over many years & many sidearms, I never regained the accuracy I had with my 586.

Was I the only one expecting to see a Colt?
Very nice. Looking forward to the range report.

Beautiful 686. Those babies are built like a tank and will last several lifetimes.

Great guns. Pleasure to shoot. Enjoy.
Nice find - I love those guns.
