    Kahr PM9 help

    Hello,

I just bought a new PM9 and am trying to clean it before I take it to the range.

I am having problems getting the slide off.

I removed the slide stop & pulled the trigger to release the striker but when I tried to push the slide forward off the frame it won't come off.

Am I doing something wrong or did I overlook something?

    Please help.

    Thanks.

Which did you do first? Slide the stop out or release the striker?

I removed the slide stop first.

IMO, you are doing everything right. The problem is most likely that the PM9's have this problem. My PM9 had troubles from day one, in this exact same way.

Never have determined how to get around the problem. Right now, it's off to Kahr's shop and they're reviewing for (a) extremely high percentage of failures to cycle, and (b) inability to remove/install slide during field stripping.

What I do: Remove the slide stop; release the slide back to normal position; pull lightly on the slide to remove it; when resistance is felt, pull the trigger to hopefully release the slide; keep doing those two things (pull slide and pull trigger) until it releases.

Here are two threads where I've reported the condition: Range Report; and Slide Sticking.

If that doesn't work after a minute or two, call Kahr.

    Good luck.

Yep,what ccw9mm said. Try putting it back together, racking the slide back and forth a few times, and start over. I know it sounds lame, but it works for me. Other than this, I've had my PM9 since they came out and never had a problem with it.

    Thanks for the replies.

I put it back together and tried it again and it worked. I was able to remove the slide.

Actually, I just got back from the range with it.

Not sure how much I like it yet. The grip is rather rough on my hand and I shoot very left with it. I have a natural tendency to shoot low and left and this gun really accentuates it a ton. I also had 2 FTF's.

I guess I need to practice a bunch with it to get used to shooting such a small gun.

    One more thing.

I was just cleaning it up after the range session and notice a small chunk of the polymer rail has been sheared off.

Is this normal wear or does this look excessive?

Sorry about the blurry pic. I only had my phone handy to take it.

    Just read through your posts.

I seem to have all of the exact same problems.

I think I may trade it in and take a loss.

Thanks for all of your help!
