Beretta 92 Mags Mec-gar Blue, Phosphate, or Nickel?

I am planning to order some additional mags for my Beretta 92 Vertec. It is sometimes used as a carry weapon. I was planning on ordering Mec-gar mags. I was wondering which plating on the mags is best in general.

I have a choice of blued, phosphate, or nickel plated mags. Aesthetics are not important to me. My concerns are reliable function and longevity. (price is about the same on all of them)

Also, should I buy the 17 rounders or 18 rounders? (Or should I buy 15 or 17 rounders from Beretta instead?)

    What do you think?

    Thanks!

    John:

I own several Beretta/Mec-Gar 17-round magazines...they are as reliable as are their 20-round extended length magazines.

Mec-Gar sent me several magazines this past Saturday including two (each) 9mm 20 and 18-round and one prototype .40 S&W 20-round magazines.

I've been ill for the past few days, so I haven't been able to test yet. When I do, I'll post my findings. But, here's a thread I posted elsewhere in cyberspace regarding my receipt and initial observations of the magazines:

IIRC Mec-Gar actually makes mags for many manfacturers like Sig and maybe Beretta. I love my M92 17rd BLUE flush fitting mags.

Mec-Gar doesn't make OEM Beretta mags; they are the OEM for Walther, SIGARMS, Steyr, Kel Tec, and I'm sure a few others.
