    Who here Carries a 10mm?

I have always wanted a 10mm to me it seems like a cartridge that has it all when it comes to a fighting round. You can go as light as 135grs and as heavy as 220 grs. This was Col. Jeff Cooper idea of the ultimate handgun cartridge. The first pistol to use this round was the Bren 10 but the people who ran the company did such a terrible job on getting the guns to market that some guns were shipped without any magazines, and it wasn't long that until the company went under. The Bren 10 was based on a beefed up CZ-75 which is a form of the Browning Hi Power. The FBI picked it up in the S&W 1006 but some of the agents could not handle the recoil of this round. The 10mm falls in between the 357 and 41 magnum. Having more power than a 357 but falls a little short of the 41 magnum. Then S&W shortened the cartridge and the 40 S&W was born. Kind of backwards of all other cartridges that went from less to more powerful. I purchased a EAA Witness 10mm after a lot of research finding out the cheesy ads in gun magazines were form the EAA which is the importer of the Tanfogilo line of pistols. They started out just after WWII making gun parts an in 1955 making their on line of copies of well proven gun designs. Just as soon as I get to give mine a run I will post pictures and range report. Just wondering if any of you have a 10mm or have any interest in it. Let me know what you think.

The bren 10 failed as it fired a hotter then 10mm round and tore the guns apart as I remember ..

The whole history of 10mm is odd to say the lest ...

Eaa has issus with the first 10mm guns cracking on them so make sure you got a latter model ...

I have and carry a 20sf with sliver tips ... Fun gun to shoot

The issues I think is most commerical loads now are basicly 40 cal level not full loads .. Sliver tips a few Federal and Underwood and Double tap are the few full loaded ones

In my mind the 10mm doesn't have a distinct adevantage over other calibers. I would only buy and use one if I lived in big bear country. It's a great round in a full load if you need a lot of punch for a large animal. Other then that it's not a round I would choose to carry for self-defense. Just my opinion though.

I have an EAA Witness in 10mm also. Although I have carried it as a 10mm, most days it is a .45. (Caliber conversion)
The pistol I have is a full size, steel. I have considered someday getting a steel compact, but have not gotten one yet.
I found I rarely have the NEED for 10mm. I am very happy I HAVE it!
Until I decide on a carbine, it fills that role for me.

I have carried a Glock G20 since 1992. My current one is a G20 SF. I also have a Colt Delta Elite 1911 and a Kimber Stainless Target II 1911 in 10mm. I carry Winchester Silvertip 175 grain in the 1911s and Buffalo Bore or Underwood 180 grain JHP in the Glock. The 10mm ranges from the low end of .357 magnum ballistics up to the high end of .357 magnum ballistics. Both the .357 magnum and 10mm can reach the bottom end of .41 magnum ballistics. Many people carry .357 magnum revolvers every day, yet many people say the 10mm semi-auto is overkill for self-defense. That has never made any sense to me. There are a lot of internet myths and misconceptions about the 10mm.

The 10mm Glocks give me finger buzz, badly.

My 10mm Witness served me well for about 8 years until the last ammo drought.

I've actually seen more .357 SIG and even .45 GAP locally, than any 10mm.

Powerful and accurate, it is a real boomer without a lot of recoil.

Was always a hoot to shoot with full power loads like the Double Tap.

My daily carry is a Wilson Combat in 10mm since 2011. I wanted one handgun that could do it all and the 10MM was it for me. I can compete with it, carry it for self defense and also my favorite HOG hunt with it! It's my most used gun and the one I shoot the best/ With careful handloading I can go from 135 grain loads for the kids to 200 GR hog stompers. Someday if all goes well I will get a black bear with mine!

No, no, no! Carry very hot nines first. Then .45. Personal and professional preference, mind you.

I think 10mm is an ideal round for several things. In the short version, of .40s&w you have a reconized proformer in urban combat. In the long cartridge of 10mm you have a round thought to do well in the wilds of natuonal parks.

I guess someone's got to bring it up so it might as well be me. Something to think about when deciding whether to carry a 10mm - the case of Harold Fish:
Trail of evidence - Dateline NBC - Crime reports - Trail of Evidence | NBC News

And the jury had another issue to think about: Fish’s gun.
The firearms investigator said that Fish’s gun — a 10mm — is more powerful than what police officers use and is not typically used for personal protection. And the ammunition Fish used to shoot Kuenzli three times, called “a hollow-point bullet,” is made to expand when it enters the body.
When he decided to pull the trigger, the prosecutor said, Fish should have known what the consequences would be.

Watched a show this weekend with Razor Dobbs carrying a Dan Wesson 1911 10mm. He shot a large buck with it and a boar on this show. Looks like it could be a fun hunt.
