Magazines !
Hi Guys. I am thinking about both carry guns and guns for a SHTF bag.
How many mags do you own for your carry gun, and how many do you actually carry ?
I typically carry a Kahr P9, loaded 7+1. I rarely carry my spare 8rd mag.
Back when I was in a rougher area and wore lots more concealment clothing , 1911 and I'd carry at least one spare mag - typically three.

I own 5 mags for my USP Compact .45. I generally carry two spares (plus the one in the gun, of course). I use the other two for dry fire practice, so I don't have to unload my carry mags. All five get used when I go to the range.

i carry at least one spare mag...sometimes two...more for clearing problems than the extra capacity. I carry a ultra carry II 1911. I own 10-12 mags total. my carry mags are all Wilson combat. I have some older Kimbers mags, and others I use at range on occassion. But only carry wilson.

Own five for each, carry two spares. Rotate the mags once a month because I believe it helps prolong spring life.
All are operationally checked with the gun and ammo that I carry.

J-frame loaded plus 2 speed strips. Sometimes an extra j-frame makes the trip also.

I own 5 spare mags for the PT-111 and 5 for the Sig P239.
My wife carries an XD .40sc and we currently have 3 magazines total for it, 2 9 round mags and one of the extended 12 rounders with the grip sleeve.
I'd like to get 3 or 4 more for her XD and a few more for my P239. Just to have for rotation.
The Taurus PT99 that sits in the holster that is afixed to the bedframe on my side has a 30 round magazine in it with 2 15 round mags in reserve. This is the bump-in-the-night gun.

HK-13 magazines
G30-6 (G21 spares and 2 10rnd
G26-10 (G19 & G17 spares and 2 10rnd)
Keltec- none yet (tried some S&W spares but they didn't seat all the way so I'm looking for some different ones)
I usually carry 2 spare mags for whatever I'm carrying
I normally carry the G30 but sometimes will carry the HK
I usually keep the H&K with my SHTF vest, vest contains 6 mags for the HK and a chest mounted holster, spare mags for the AK

****....I used to carry two Kahrs: a P9 Covert and PM9 and when I did so, I usually carried two spare magazines; now I can only carry my duty gun (even while off-duty) per my LE agency. So, I carry one magazine as a spare most times and two or three during warrant executions.

I usually carry one reload for the primary and one for the secondary/bug.
Most of my handguns I have at least 5 mags for and some much more.

If you carry a semi-auto you should always carry a spare magazine should you need to clear a type three malfunction or need any type of reload.
For EDC one or two spare magazines, for BOB, three unloaded, for vehicle two loaded.
Have ordered five more to prevent future capacity limitation issues.
