    S&W M&P malfunction update - I believe it was a one-time thing...

A while back I posted a problem I had with my M&P. Since that time I have put 400 more rounds through it for a total of 720 with no other malfunctions. That's 720 without cleaning.

I generally don't go that long without cleaning a gun, but I wanted to see if the problem was debris, etc. from shooting. I am convinced the problem I had was a one-time thing.

I have read of M&Ps running for many more rounds w/o cleaning than I have without any kind of a problem.

The more I carry and shoot this thing the more I like it. That's not to say that it's better than Glocks, Sigs, XDs, H&Ks, etc. but it's beginning to look like it's as good as those. But time will tell as far as durability and reliability goes, but so far it looks like a real winner.

1:720 - ratio looking better Ron - and that glitch was pretty early on too.

Much as any malf' is unwelcome I certainly feel that if it should occur early and be followed by good running then for sure it eases the concerns greatly.

I well remember how my ''grease drag'' problem with the 226 shook my confidence, until I realized that light oil was the answer - and then copious ammo thru it confirmed reliability was still as required.

Good to hear. I just got the .40 M&P - haven't had a chance to get to the Range yet. VERY anxious to shoot it.

Yep, I think you just suffered a weird & inexplicable Twilight Zoneish type of malfunction.

I don't wanna say "I told ya so."

Glad that you're cranking them out now without a hitch.

I remember when I had a failure in my Glock 27 a few years ago; since it's my primary carry gun, it shook my confidence. I suspected it was a one-time thing, possibly due to a weak grip, and it has not repeated itself. I don't even remember if it was a stovepipe or a failure to eject or what. It was something along those lines.

I'm glad you feel your confidence in your gun building back up.

Glad to hear your issues are clearing up. Still waiting for the M&P in compact .45. Want to hear all I can about real life M&P issues from function to quirks to customer service.Thanks.
