    Finally did it!!

This should get cudos from some of you die hards!!

I finally bought my first 1911. I have fought some of you since joining this forum. Now I stand with my hat in my hand........or should I say my new Colt Gold Cup Trophy.
I carried a 1911 in the military about a hundred years ago and just never liked it. But, I'm going to sleep with this thing if I have to, to hopefully develop the strong affinity that so many of you have for the 1911.
Tomorrow the range and Monday I strap it on and carry it (CHL). Tall and skinny. Got a new pancake.

    Here goes.

Congratulations, I hope you enjoy it. I'll probably break down and get one one day, just to add to my small but growing collection. I'm sure that they're fine weapons, having rad so much from the huge amount of rabid 1911 fans. Personally though, it will take quite a lot to get me to replace my XD 45 as my primary carry weapon. I like the weight, features, and of course, the 13+1 capacity of 45ACP. But I'm willing to reserve judgement at least until I've actually fired one.

I think you will notice that a 1911 feels like shaking hands with an old friend. I love my XD and that is what I carry now, but it feels like shaking hands with a toaster by comparison.

btw - toasters don't have hands.

well I did the same thing a few months ago. I picked up a GI Mil Spec 1911 Springer. It's a good pistol, but I still like the combat tupperware.
