What's the longest you've waited for a firearm order?

I recently (about a month ago) put a order in at a local gun shop for a firearm they didn't keep in stock. I have done this before, even at this shop and had no trouble getting it within a week, or two at the most.

When I didn't get the usual call (Mr. xxxx, your gun is here...) I called them. In short, I was told that its on backorder and that they had no idea when it would be.

So, I contacted the manufacturer. They told me I could expect to wait 1-2 months. I know, I know patience. I have put a heathy deposit on this thing though, and I am curious as to when I should contact the shop again without being a pest.

Thanks everyone for your input. I can't think of a better forum to post this on.

I've been waiting since August for my order to be fulfilled, which puts me at just about six months. Of course, it was a preorder, and the gun is yet to be widely released...reported serial number sightings are still under 1000 to my knowledge. It's the Kel-Tec PF-9, their flat stack 9mm. Still waiting!

I waited about 11 months for a Seecamp 32. I paid 259.00 for it, along with a special serial number "1SNEAKY32"

    nicnewfield,
I ordered a PF-9 when they were first announced. Got mine Dec 28. 2006. It was worth the wait!

Not really ordered, but waited for a few weeks shy of a year for a Kimber Pro Carry 40 to be in stock. Should get here this week.

Longest I've waited was 1 Month and 1 Day. It was as stripped AR reciever. I'm not sure what the problem was (FFL blamed the distributor). But after many phone calls it finally arrived.

I suppose that's fair, you've waited a lot longer than I have! Glad you liked it...I'm still pretty far down the list with my dealer.

About 2 years. I ordered a Department of Civilian Marksmanship M1 Garand about 10 years ago. About 18 months after going to the shoot (shows particiapation) and filling out the paperwork and sending in the Fingerprint card, I got a request for payment. $185 is what I think I paid included shipping to my house. A1 condition.

Then about 2 years later they could be had for about $400 and 1 month wait. But since you could only get 1 in a lifetime I was SOL.

Now it is a purchase thru a private company and is about retail when they are available. The M1 carbine is going to be released in March unknown price yet.

Well lets see I have Browning Hi-Power Mk III (or I think I still do) that I gave to me smith to do some custom work on, well 2 years later he still has it. Now my question is at what point do I start charging him?

My first Rohrbaugh R9 was a good while coming but there were factors.

I first handled and shot the gun in March 2004 when Eric R brought it out to a shoot out East. But as they had to wait on some magazine changes and, due to mine having to go to AK to a dealer and then back to my FFL - altogether it was around 2 months.

not to long, I'm not big on odd ball guns.

But I have waited about 8 weeks or so for my RRA AR. It was worth it.
