    Very Special .44!

Well, I guess the ECO will have to wait. Came across this gem at a good price, and since .44 Special is one of my (many) weaknesses, I had to go for it! Already posted in the Ammunition forum, but figured I'd drop it in here as well, even though it's not really going to be a "defensive carry" gun. The N-Frame would get old real fast as an EDC!

It's the newer-production Model 24-6, and while I would have preferred an original, or a 24-3, I believe this one will do fine!

These are actually the seller's pics - I won't have my hands on the gun for a week or so.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! When you get it give us the pleasure of some good pictures and a range report. Heck I'll even dig up the full size revolver thread if you'll post pictures of that beauty in it. Wow!

wow. that is a beaut! it's gonna be a sweet heart too. I was just pondering on a gun like on my drive in this morning..... (the one in my mind was a rich blue with darker grips, but I like the polish; and those grips have some fantastic looking grain structure in the grips!)

A 24-6 in nickel is probably fairly rare, isn't it, Jim?

I'm guessing that revolver is as rare as; chicken's lips, Hindu hamburgers and conservative democrats! That's a PURE PEACH!

    I don't really know!

When I first stumbled across the listing, I Googled the model but came up with very little info. Found a couple of listings from several years back, and several posts on various gun forums. The pricing information I came across was all at least 4-5 years old, but led me to believe that I was getting a pretty good deal. Most of the other stuff was just forum opinions that ranged from "it's the rarest, most sought-after gun since WWI", to "it's worthless". Needless to say, some felt that the internal lock put it on a par with a Hi-Point!

As near as I can tell, the 24-6 was only made in 2008, and had a MSRP of $1067 in nickel. The 6-1/2" seems to be the most common, and the nickel is less common, but not ultra-rare. It appears that a 3" is the most desirable, but I haven't been able to really verify any of the above. I just learned (?) enough to be afraid of letting the deal pass me by!

It remains to be seen whether it was the deal of the century, or just a foolish impulse buy. One thing I AM sure of is that I will enjoy having and shooting it!
