Just on reputation for reliability and durability, alone, I'd say: S&W. Though, either would make an effective choice. After an action job by a competent gunsmith, either would serve well.

While I don't think you can do wrong by purchasing a Taurus snubbie (heck, I own one in 9mm), given a choice I'd buy a S&W in a NY minute.
