We all know the 1911 and .45 are historically synonymous... a perfect match. I am curious as to how many of you have 1911's chambered in 9mm. Are they for competition/target shooting, carry, or just to have?

What is this BLASPHEMY you speak of? LOL -sorry couldn't help myself...![]()
I figured someone would hit me with that. My 1911's are all .45 but I have been thinking about get one in 9mm for target shooting. I love the feel and ergonomics of the 1911, as well as the single action. I figured a 9mm 1911 would be a good range firearm.
...I'd like to get a 1911 9mm, but getting one is not a priority at the moment.

Nope, either 45 or 10mm for me.

I currently only serve local customers and do not ship ammunition. Thanks for understanding.
i think it'd be interesting to note whether these were the traditional ".45 1911's" with the so-called retrofitted to 9mm (like a lot of the para ord guns, etc). or the new "9mm 1911 from the ground up" platforms like the springfield EMP or the Aegis.
I don't want to say that one is better than the other... if anything, the latter models are just coming to market so longevity is difficult to determine.
Just wondering in terms of the question....
I don't have a 1911 chambered in 9mm, but I would like one...it is in my top 5 of wanted firearms. Not to carry, cause if I am going to carry a 1911, it will be my ultra carry II.
I want one to target shoot, and plink with, as the 1911 platform just fits after so many years of using one.

EMP & lovin'it. Feels great, shoots great and I can shoot alot more rounds through a 1911 at the range w/ 9mm than my 45acp.
I have a Colt Commander in 9mm. Just to have and shoot.
No, but maybe one day just to own one. It's a low priority, though.

I have a very old (Pre 70 Series) Colt, 9MM Lightweight Commander, that I purchased back in 1979 with a spare 38 Super barrel and spare mag each caliber for the "outragously high" (at that time) price of 200.00...........I still have it and it's a carry gun and keeper for sure.....

Why Waltz when you can Rock-N-Roll
I have a Colt MKIV Series 80 in 9MM, and it's a fun gun to shoot at the range. Figure I already had a 1911 in .45, so another one in a cheaper caliber couldn't hurt!
I bought an "STI", Ranger II in 9mm about 8 months ago, primarily for practice. It is very nice to shoot and a "tack driver". There is barely any noticable recoil, it holds 10 rounds, and carries very nicely. I already had 3 /.45's and a .40, so I was looking for cheaper ammo and a fun gun. It fits the bill and is great fun to shoot.

I love shooting the 1911 format in 9MM. At some point I plan to build one.
