Question What's The Scoop On The "J" Frame Lasermax?

Looks like LaserMax is trying to swipe a little thunder from Crimson Trace.
I honestly do like the idea of the beam being up and out of the way near the sight line.
It's a "tap on ~ tap off" though but at least ambidextrous tap on & off.

Prototypes featured at the 2006 show but, Anybody here actually own one yet?

At only $199 the price is decently decent for any LaserMax product.

I have a CT LG-205 on my J-frame. Hard plastic is tough on the hands wrt recoil.

So I looked at the LaserMax JMax at a recent gun show. Looks like a similar small grip size as the CT LG-205. I like the switch feature better than CT, but suspect that it would still be brutal on the hand.

After talking with CT, it looks like the LG-305 (if NOT using pocket carry) or the LG-405 (if using pocket carry) is the best solution (albeit more expensive) for Shootability.

Yes, the hard plastic on my SP is also a bit tough on the hand but - that aside I do like the CT. Parallax may be greater but at combat ranges no biggie IMO.

As for price, my set was IIRC $174 or so - and thus not bad.

Does seem like Lasermax is trying to give CT a good run for the money!

Somebody in here was saying that the LG-405 is the ticket for the J-frame. I am in the market myself and have been looking at the Lasermax and the CTC too. I have mixed feelings on the LaserMax product. It sort of covers up too much of the gun for my aesthetically challenged taste.

The LG-405 (and -305) have some "cushioning" in front to help absorb the recoil. The -305 extends down further than the metal in the butt, thus making it more difficult to conceal for pocket carry. The -405 is supposedly even with the metal butt, making it more ideal for pocket carry.

The above is what I was told by CT's Tech Supt when I queried them on what the differences were between the 3 models.
