    It finally came in! Yee-haw!

Just got a call from my local gun dealer. My Taurus 1911 is in. It's my first foray into the 1911 market, so I thought a nice deal on one of these new Taurus' guns would be a good affordable way to see if I enjoy shooting them as much as everybody else seems to. Can't wait to get it out to the range.... well, I guess first I can't wait to go pick it up. I'm gone!

I think you'll like the 1911 platform. The Taurus PT-1911 is a great intorduction. One of my 1911s is a blued Taurus. I like it well enough to have a SS model on order.

Congrats on the new gun. I have a Springfield .45, but am waiting on the release of the SS Taurus before buying one of them. When I bought the Springer it was a decision between it and the Taurus. Enjoy.

Both Nate and eagle5 are right. I've got seventeen (so far). One of these days I'll post some pics of my collection. I started out with a 1911 (my father tought me how to shoot a handgun with his USMC issued M1911A1). Since then I have done the Beretta, Browning, Sig, Ruger, Taurus, S&W, Glock, XD, H&K, Kahr thing. But now, with the exception of a half dozen odd semi-auto pistols (mostly collectors items), and numerous revolvers of many makes, I am still a solid 1911 guy. It still works the best for me. BTW my most recently acquired 1911 is a blued Taurus like yours.

Thanks everyone! I picked it up at Jay's this evening, got it home, and am in love. I spent the evening field stripping and cleaning it to get all of the packing grease off. I love the feel of it in my hands. I have been a huge fan of my Beretta 92 for years (My favorite in my limited collection) but this 1911 sure feels nice in my hands.

Dead batteries in the digital camera, so I'll get some pics up tomorrow. Range report sometime this weekend.

If this is as much fun to shoot as ya'll say it will be, then it may solve my current dilema. For the first time in years, I have nothing on lay-away at Jay's. I feel quite odd about that. I need to have something on lay-away, and if I enjoy shooting it as much as I enjoy my Beretta, that may just convince me as to what the next gun will be... although there are so many to choose from....
