I have really started to like the idea of a springfield ultra compact. I think 3.5" is as short as i want to go, and I only want to go that short for carry purposes. I just want some info on reliability and carry issues.
also I looked at the springfield site but couldn't find any duo tone versions. i'd like to get a blued slide over stainless frame but can't figure out if i can get that outside of dropping even more money on a custom order.
Guns don't kill people, Husbands that come home early kill people.
I love mine. The only reliability issues that I know of (which applies to most 1911s) is the mag. stock ones are fine, but low capacity. Get either a wilson combat or chip mccormick mag. I have the chip McCormick mag (7+1) and it is close to having hollow points get stuck, but so far it seems reliable however the mag springs are getting old. I want to get the 8+1 compact mags from wilson combat. I have a friend that swears by them. Hollow point feeding is the only problem that I could see.
I don't use it as a carry gun (got a xd40sc for that). The handle seemed to print easily but it could of just been me. It will work fine as a carry though.
