    Kimber Custom II?

Ok, the problem with this forum is the many guns you hear about & see...

So, I've shot & love the 1911 type guns. A friend even offered me to carry around one of his Para Ordinances for a week or so. It's DAO & I'm interested in the SA only (What's the point?).

I have the opportunity to buy a Kimber Custom II for $599.00 new. I'm assuming that's a good price, considering the shop that's carrying it, but is that a good first 1911? Cost is a factor, probably $1K or less.

I'm not looking for an EDC, I have a Kahr & a couple Glocks for that. Just a nice shooting 1911. So, I'm open for some thoughts...

I don't know if I have seen a new Custom 2 for under $650 in the last year or two, they are usually close to $700, so thats a good deal. The big thing to look for is to see if it has an extrenal extractor, becasue a lot of people didn't like Kimber's external extractor's. They are Kimber's base model, but they are still supposed to be really accurate and reliable.

It does already have a lot of the add on's that people want to eventually put on their 1911's. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Even if it does have the EE, Kimber has been replacing problem ridden EE slides with IE slides.

I say go for it! It seems like a pretty fair price. IMHO, the only thing I'd do differently is use Wilson Combat magazines. Other than that, I think the Kimber Custom II is a great gun. Good luck with your decision. I saw one online for $890.00 for the price you mentioned ($599.00) I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I have the exact gun. I paid 600 out the door for mine. That is a great price. If you don't buy it I will...... I love mine...I carry it everyday...I have never had a problem with it...It is one of the most accurate gun I have ever shot.

Thanks to all for the responses. From the sound of some, it might become an EDC or definitely a winter carry gun.

So, I think I'll check it out tomorrow.

Now, I just gotta come up with something good to tell the wife, she knows my Dept. doesn't allow SA's for work...
