My new PT145 Milpro and the first 500 rounds

Well I bought my first CCW. A new SS PT145 Milpro. I have heard some horror stories about Taurus' but decided to take chance b/c the gun seemed to fit my needs and will also allow me to afford a new J-frame as well. In the past two days I have put about 500 rounds though it. The only hiccup was from a box of cheap crap WOLF ammo my brother bought, it jammed twice but I'm sure it was b/c it wasn't brass. Thank god he only brought 50 rounds of that crap. I used 450 remmington 230gr Target loads and the pistol performed awesome. At first I kept shooting low, b/c I wasn't used to sights on it, but after that I was able to shoot some very nice groups at some pretty long distances. For a .45 the recoil is very tolerable, even my friend who is a 115lb girl, had no problem shooting it. I am very happy with it. You can't beat the price, 10+1 of .45 cal ammo in a small package, love the trigger action, and a pleasure to shoot. Taurus must have fixed the problems they had on earlier models cause I am very impressed with it, hopefully it stays realiable.

As I understand it the horror stories came from the older Millenium pistols. The Millenium Pro series came out and fixed all the issues. I've never heard a single complaint about the MilPro, and have been intending to get a PT145 myself. Right now it depends on if I can successfully make my HK USPf .40 a 3-season EDC pistol. If I can, I'll sell my XD and get a MilPro for summer carry.

I highly recommend the XS 24/7 sight system. I've got the standard dot setup on my XD and will never go back. Crazy fast target acquisition and plenty accurate for SD. Congrats on the new pistol--stay safe!
