Ruger autos are damn fine weapons...for the money! They will eat just about ANYTHING you feed 'em, they conceal...decent - a little thick, but not that much thicker than a Glock. They don't weigh a ton, American made, and yeah, like you said - good customer service.

    However...

Every Ruger 9mm I've ever seen had a problem with their pattern. They just don't hold a good tight pattern. But for a combat gun? Yeah...they're OK! Good choice!

If you decide to stick with Ruger P's...get yourself a P90 (.45ACP) You wont regret it!

My brother is a Ruger guy. He loves his Ruger wheelguns and his P90. I just wish that he would get a CCL like his little brother. I had a P94 .40 for a short while and I thought it was a good pistol. I just didn't care for the cartridge. Congrats on a great gun.........now go out and get that smoke pipe hot!

    Congrats!!

While my "first" was a Beretta 92fs, the first handgun that I ever shot was my dad's Ruger P-85. While it wouldn't be my personal choice for a CCW, it shot well, was dependable, and an excllent handgun!!

I still borrow the P-85 from dad occasionally to give her some 'exercise' and keep her active.

My next gun, if the wife lets me will most likely be a rifle and so far the most fun I have ever had with a rifle is with an AR-15. What a pure joy to shoot. Spendy but worth every penny! Hope to take the Ruger out this weekend if the weather is ok.

So you've busted your hand gun cherry!
    Congrats.
Looks like a good piece and from the previous comments, it must be.
    Enjoy!

Now, for your second gun, pick up a Ruger GP-100 or SP-101 .357 and enjoy the world of Ruger wheelguns! My two go well with my P345. Gotta love a gun that ALWAYS goes bang when it's suppose to!

Never shot one but looked at them a time or two.

Congrats and let us know how it shoots!

Took my gun to the range yesterday with my buddy and his Glock .45. It was a free DNR range outside so 25yd only area for pistols and no Silhouette targets allowed :(

We set up some 12" x 12" targets up and started in. Ran 100 rounds of cheapo Winchester 115g target ammo through it. Now lets remember this is my first time at the range with my first gun. I had only been to the range before with different guns from friends and whatnot. I had 19 hit the target and 3 of those were dead center. I don't think that is too bad for my first time. I will say I shot the first 50 much better than the last 50. The P-95 grip is very rough and starts to irritate the hand after a while. Might get a hogue grip after while. The gun never once had a problem. I tried gangster firing it both left and right and limp wristing it big time to try and get it to do something wrong...It just kept firing correctly. Even my buddy who was having a pretty good day with his Glock, shot mine and was able to do better than his own gun :)

Going to be joining a range close to home that allows Silhouettes and you can walk up and shoot from any angle and distance. 10 yards seems alot more real world to me.

    Conclusion: Rugers rock ;)
