Never heard anything bad about them. Make sure to post a range report!

Now there is a rugged dependable gun.
My P series guns have never made me want to put them in a beauty parade but for sure - they work and work well - could well be why I have kept them even tho they see less service these days.

Very Reliable.
That'll work for you just fine.
Buy a good quality holster & a nice spiffy stiff gun belt & you're good to go.
Oh...& if you decide to carry it IWB then shop for a holster with a back sweat guard 'cause I heard that the hammer can be slightly ouchful rubbing on the skin.

Your first? Its all down hill from there.... soon you'll want another one, then a rifle or 2. Its an evil downward spiral, but dang, it sure is fun!
Congrats!
Thanks for all the comments guys. Yes the big deciding factor other than the money was the fact that I have never really heard of anyone bashing the P-95 due to misfires. They last a long time, they are accurate, rugged, and Ruger's customer service is fantastic.
Yah so I have heard...I am lucky as my entire family is sort of anti gun but My Father in law is a HUGE hunter/NRA nut so he is willing to teach me everything he knows and let me fire any of his rifles. Now if he would only let me fire is WWII Walther PPK stolen from the Walther factory by his Father after he raided it :) Man that gun is gorgeous for being so old.
The Ruger pistols that I've tried have always done the most important thing a pistol can do. They go bang without problems. I just don't hear bad things about them.
Funny thing is, at least in S. California, LE agencies generally don't allow them for on-duty carry. Don't know why, they're as reliable, more so than some, as anything out there & have high capacity...![]()

I love Ruger guns and like many have said, they are rugged and dependable. Good choice and have fun.

I had a P-93DC and it may be the one gun I regret selling. It was a work horse, and the last 9mm I held on to. Ruger is like Glock in my mind, not the most expensive- not the prettiest- but you KNOW it will go BANG every time you tell it to. Heck, even though I do not own a Ruger at the moment, my name on a Glock forum is Rugershooter- just to stick to my roots.
Happy shooting, and congrats on the great new gun.
