M&P 40 Range report.
Today I had the opportunity to hit the range with my new M&P 40, Which has been traveling with me this week along side my normal Kel-tec.
In total today and we fired about 80 rounds through the gun switching between the Medium grip which felt the best in my hand to the small as I hit better with it.
Of those 80 rounds 50 were WWB, 21 were Remmington UMC and 9 were Gold Dot 180s I had no malfunctions in the gun between my uncle sister (not an experienced handgun shooter) and I.
the gun felt great and grouped well (Low & Left which is where I was shooting every pistol) this gun is deffinatly an fun and accurate gun. There was some muzzle flip but for my uncle and I very controlable.
I really like it and can hardly wait to get the Max-Con V in from Gary.
I will continue as often as I get to the range (which I wish was more but I am away at college and the gun stays home by college policy)

I have shot a few new M&P's, the trigger are quite stiff out of the box but improve with time, there is also a website around that shows how to improve the feel of the trigger, nice choice in guns!

Do some dry firing and some dead round drills, that should solve your low and left problems.

Yeah as I looked at the diagnostic target it looks like I am squeezing the gun while shooting and jerking the trigger. It will get some work, thanks for the advise Sixto as always you are more than helpful.

There is a link over on the M&P Forums that give directions for doing a trigger job on the M&P guns. Here is a link to the forum thread.

The link is in the first post.

I had one in my hand last week at a gun shop.
Sweet !
Compact version in .40 was $529.00
Time to start saving up again.
Harley stuff or gun stuff is always a tough choice for me.

Nice when a new handgun works well for you right out of the box.

The full size goes for around $700 plus tax up here.

The M&P is becoming greatly popular, so much so that I can't find a sinlge place on the net to purchase 17 round 9mm mags. Kudos to Smith & Wesson.
My first handgun was the Springfield XD9SC (yes, I'm a young pup). I thoroughly liked that gun. I am really curious if the M&P were out then, would I have chosen it over the XD? I've recently added a M&P9 full-size to my collection and am still breaking it in. I think it will end up a very promising and reliable firearm. (I'm still one of Browning's disciples in the 1911!)

I had a very hard time deciding if I was going to pick up a M&P .40 or if I wanted a XD40 or XD45c it was a tough call.
