    Best .40 S&W CCW

I posted something similar on another forum, but I wanted to see what everyone here has to say.

I have a SIG P226-40 and P239-40, alone with a Glock G23C (my primary carry). And I'm always looking for a new gun to add to my collection.

What would you add to this collection (in a .40 S&W)? I'd like to keep an open mind when I consider buying guns and there is a very good gun show coming up at the end of the month and all reps should be there. The fun thing about this specific gun show is we can try them out on the range - at the show.

    Current: S&W 442, Springfield XD9sc, XDm9, and Glock G26, G19, G23C,
and SIG P226-40 TT, and Ruger GP-100, and Beretta 92FS
    Former: Taurus 92SS, SIG P220 TT, S&W 360, SIG P239-40, Ruger 22/45 MKII

I would check out the S&W M&P40 compact. Great pistol.

I picked up a Glock 27 to back-up my Glock 23... then I bought a .357 SIG barrel for the G-27 so now it's two guns in one!

    Just a thought...

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

A lot of people are finding the S&W M&P40c to be a good CCW. There is also the Springfield XD40SC following. Then you have your Glocks. Kimber even offers some compact 1911s in 40S&W. As far as the "Best," there is no such thing. It all comes down to the individual user and what works for them. I would have a hard time deciding. Personally I would consider either the XD40SC or M&P40c.

This gun show you speak of sounds pretty good, considering you can try before you buy. Do some research on this forum, try the models you are considering at the show, and make your decision.

I'm still a diehard 27 fan but I do like the M&Ps. Gotta shoot them and go from there though.

    Small .40 caliber guns

You have the bases pretty well covered in .40 caliber with the three guns you list above. Do you have guns in other calibers as well, or do you like .40 caliber exclusively?

But taking you at your word and thinking about a .40 caliber addition to the above - you already have 2 Sigs and 1 Glock, so if I were you I would go with another brand for variety. The S&W M&P 40 compact has been mentioned, and that would be a good choice that would compete with your Glock 23 as a carry gun.

Another similar gun to the M&P would be the H&K P2000sk in .40 caliber. I have been looking at one of these in a gun store and reading about it, and am tempted by it myself.

I can suggest a few....The Glock 27 is top of the list followed closely by the XD .40sc (my wife's primary gun) the M&P 40compact, and the H&K P2000Sk.

Those are the ones I would consider myself. I just noticed something interesting. All of them are polymer framed guns......I guess I am a die hard combat Tupperware guy.

I'm a Glock 27 guy myself. Goes along with my Glock 22 duty weapon.

With it being a .40S&W I would proably look hard at, Glock 27, Kahr P40 or a Kimber in .40S&W. I would prefer it in .45acp but what the heck ;-)
