    Alumagrips Any experience?

I'm thinking of getting a pair of "Alumagrips" grips for my 1911. This is my usual carry piece. I'm currently using a set of Houges on it but notice my cover garment will occasionally "stick" on the rubber grips. Has anybody had experience, good or bad, with the Alumagrips and which do you like or don't like. I don't want to give up the grip of the houges but yet want summer carry shirt to not bind on the grips. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I've got a set on my 1911, and they have standard checkering. I love em. I carry IWB and have no problem with the alumagips. My only regret is in not getting the light weight ones.

I have two sets that I love and they do not come loose. I got mine from www.gungrips.net who will engrave just about anything you want on them. Both sets of mine are engraved with my Navy Senior Chief's Anchors, like you see in my avatar. One set is black and the other Clear (SS color) to match the pistols thay are on.

    I like them

I have two sets of Alumagrips in their "slim" version with conventional checkering, which are thinner than conventional 1911 grips and offer a concealment advantage for CCW use. I like them very much. They adhere well to my hand but do not snag on a cover garment. I ordered direct from the company in Arizona and received very good service.

This picture shows the Alumagrips on my Colt Defender.

    Thumbs up

Based on everything I've read about them here and on other forums - dang near everybody that has them likes them. If that helps.

I think that if you're going to go with them you should have them personalized somehow in order to make them special or unique to you - otherwise I think the nicer exotic woods have an advantage over them as far as esthetics are concerned.

Me personally I like Ivory & since I've never downed an Aluminum Elephant - I'm sticking with natural Ivories.

I have the thin, lightweight Alumagrips on my Kimber Ultra Carry. Mine are smooth (uncheckered).

They seems to provide enough traction for a solid firing grip, but allow me to re-position my hand if my draw is poor.

I installed the Alumagrips because the factory grips often stuck to my cover garment.

YMMV one hell of a lot.

I purchased the same set for my Kimber Combat Carry 1911. I haven't installed them yet.

I like mine also. They have been on my gun for a few years. I take them off for a small while and always return to them. Get them personalized. A picture of mine is on their site. If you have a design send it to them and they will return a picture of what it will look like on a grip.
