    I had to do it - S&W M&P 9c

I've been looking at a few options for lighter weight summer carry pistols, and I was molesting the merchandise at the local toy store and the M&P 9c caught my eye.

My wife doesn't like the sharpish recoil of the .40 USP, and so 9mm was on the list (she likes shooting her P22, but I want her to have something a little heftier for protection and she's not comfortable with the M4 yet).

Pics and range report forthcoming. Bit of a switch from the 1911.

Excellent choice! I like my M&P 9 fullsize enough that I am greatly considering getting the M&P 9c as well. Complete opposites, but I'm torn between the M&P 9c and the Para LDA Carry 9.

Look foward to pics and feedback from the range.

Got it out to the range this morning.

Nice Florida morning, ~75 degrees, mild breeze. Brought 250 rounds of Remington bulk pack 115gr ball, and 20 of Speer Gold Dots.

For reference, my usual EDC is a Kimber 1911 full size. Loaded weight 2lbs 14oz.

The loaded weight of the M&P 9c is a full pound less.

Reliability was, well, perfect. Fired a total of 120 rounds before work wrecked a nice range session (curse you Blackberry!!!!).

    FTE: 0
    FTF: 0

Tried as hard as I could to induce a failure by limp wristing it in my off hand, holding it as lightly as I dared.

    All bang, no click.

Controllability is very good, very little muzzle rise noticed, follow on shots quite quick.

I was surprised at the accuracy of the pistol considering it's size. I was able to put 10 rounds on a 3" smiley face sticky note at 21 feet consistently. Sights were spot on right out of the box.

The trigger is a bit different that what I was used to, but it felt very comfortable after a couple of magazines. It is a touch "gritty", but I expect it will smooth out with a little more shooting.

Function with the gold dots was flawless. Fed and ejected with a boring reliability - just the kind of boredom I demand from my carry guns.

    Preliminary results: Mongo like!

Carried it to dinner, as a matter of fact.

Good report! I love my M&P although it is in the .40 cal, not the 9mm. Enjoy.

I suspect in the near future, the wifester will "adopt" the 9c and I'll end up with another one in .357 Sig or .40.

I want to buy a M&P. I really want to find a .357c to look at.

I've been looking at the mods done here. http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/M&P1.htm

I will get him to do a trigger job on it when I buy one.

If I found a 40c for a good price, I would buy it.

I don't know if you guys want to talk about pricing on here.

The shop I went to was $549.99 for a 9c with standard sights. I have not researched it yet to see if that is low or high.
