    Stoeger Cougar 9mm ???

Just saw one of these in the new Benelli USA cat. $370.00 list. Appears to be a Beretta knock off. Anyone have any experience with this gun? I just bought a FEG P9R but it had a terrible Trigger pull. What about the Cougar?

    Thanks.

I'm waiting for my local dealer to get a shipment in and will probably buy if they feel as good as others have said they are.

There have been several discussions on the Stoeger Cougar over that past couple of months or more....do SEARCH for the term "Cougar."

My search revealed at this one thread: http://www.combatcarry.com/vbulletin...ad.php?t=21697

If you read that thread, I posted two other previous threads regarding the Stoeger Cougar.

I have fired one that a buddy owns a week or so ago. It is a nice gun. Very well made and fit and finish was very good.

It seems to me that the rotating barrel design absorbed more of the recoil than the conventional tilt lock barrel design does.

All in all, I think it is an extremely good gun for the very small price that it is being sold at.

A normal price range in MN for a Cougar is 329 (Sportsman's Warehouse) to 349 (GM).

I am on a waiting list for a 40 at Sportsmans.

    Today is my birthday

Thanks for all the info. I just order a Cougar from my local dealer $329.99. He doesn't know when I will get it because they are back ordered, but he doesn't have any orders as yet so I'll get the 1st one in.

    Good article on this gun:

This is probably one of the best deals in the gun market today. I will be adding the 40 to my collection when they become available. It will be my sons gun and his first CCW.

I've shot one in the .40 sw. Good fit with my hand, excellent controls, decock/safety, well made. I love the 92FS but the stoeger I think is built better for concealability. having shot the .40, I think that this gun would be a much better flatform for a 9 mm. In any case, it is well built, well priced, and can't to wrong w/ buying it. oh, the .40 was fairly accurate too.

Wished they came with a longer barrel, so they could be legal up here.

Please note this passage from the aforementioned magazine...

"Stoeger has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the Beretta Holdings Group since 2002, and after adding new manufacturing capability to the Stoeger factory in Turkey that has been making shotguns since the 1980s, Beretta obtained a pistol manufacturing license for Stoeger from the Turkish Ministry of Defense in 2005."

Knockoff???? No, basically just a different factory and a smaller branch of the same company. Which is a really good thing. Same gun, new name stamp.

    NRA & Couger

Went to the NRA convention in St Louis. Saw and held the Cougar. If it shots as well as it feels and looks I will be very happy.

It's about time for me to crack the piggy bank pretty soon for one. I have been wanting to get one of the lighter "poly" pistols but I always seem to end up with another all metal one. I have a Glock, and a CZ100. Guess I'll hold off on getting another plastic pistol until I check out the Cougar.
