    Pawn Shop finds

I bought a couple of pistols yesterday at a local pawn shop and think I did OK. What do you think? A Colt Detective Special, I'd say about 95%+ and a S&W Model 36 3 inch, maybe 70%. Both for $460 OTD.

The S&W actually came with a holster that has the S&W logo stamped on it. I didn't know they made or sold holsters. I'll try to post a picture of it.

As a pawnbroker, and judging from the photos, I would say that you made out alright. I wouldn't say you got a steal for what you got, but you didn't get hurt either. You could turn either of those around (if you were considering this) and recoup a considerable portion of what you invested.

If you were to resell both guns to a private collector (not a place or person that was going to resell them also), you could make out pretty well. You won't retire or put your kids through college, but you could certainly take the wife out to a nice dinner.

BTW: What part of NC? I am over in the Winston-Salem area.

For the market here in WA state you did great. To even find a quality revolver at a pawn shop is rare. Price was real nice too. Congrats.. luteai

Mebane is nice and quiet. Been over that way a few times. I would love to live out that way, but it would be one heck of a commute.

That Colt's a complete piece of crap. Being the kind, caring soul that I am I'm willing to let you send it to me and save yourself the humiliation of ownership ... I won't even charge you! Heck, just cause I'm feeling extra nice today, I'll even let you send me that S&W. Now, where else ya' gonna get an offer like that?

Love the Detective Special! I used to have one and have been looking for a good deal on one ever since. Looks like you did well.

    A 3rd generation Dick Special and a 3" square butt M36?

You mean $460 for both, I presume?

Assuming that you got both of them for $460 total, I think you did fine. I would say the Colt represents the bulk of the value, however.

You got a steal of deal, Dude. Good for you.

I like to mine the local pawnshops every now and again, too.
