    Talking S&W Model 669 Advice

Does anyone carry a S&W model 669? If you do what do you like and dislike about the weapon. I have a chance to obtain one and would like some input.

I carry the 3rd gen version of that gun a 6946. The 69xx series guns were plain cloths cop guns due to shorter barrel and grip.

You will find it a solid gun in SS and mild shooter. It has a square trigger guard (2nd generation) where most (3rd gen) 69xx guns are round so holsters are tad more difficult to find.

Mags for any 69xx or 59xx will work in the gun which is a great option. The price should be below 300 and closer to 250.

    I hope this helps.

    Good CCW gun

The 669 is one of the bargains in used 9mm guns, probably because so many of them are in circulation, and many buyers today prefer the polymer frame compact 9mms to these aluminum framed guns. But they have a good reputation and are a nice size for CCW, weighing 25 ounces with a 3.5 inch barrel and holding 12 rounds in the magazine.

As MNBurl points out, the prices are very attractive at about $300.

I had a S&W model 6906 for awhile, and it was a great carry
piece; accurate, and as reliable as anything I've ever carried.
It just so happened that I had to use this weapon as partial
trade towards a more expensive weapon; a 5" bbl. Kimber
Raptor, that I eventually traded to get my Les Baer Thunder
Ranch Special- which I'm very happy with.

Just bought one yesterday. The gun looks perfect, brand new, until I got home and took it apart. It was filthy. I don't think the previous owner was into clean and oil at all. needless to say it got a good scrubbing and oiling. The gun shoots great with a very long trigger pull which will need a bit of practice to get used too. All in all I am happy with my purchase. Very Nice gun. Gen II by the way.
