I hate the thing. I plan on removing mine when I get around to it. I don't think i'd modify a carry gun like that though.

I wouldn't; but you will receive a very authoritative answer from Stephen A. Camp. He has probably covered this topic at his Hi-Powers and Handguns website: http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I had a long a detailed discussion with Wayne Novak on the subject before I made my decision. The negative side is that you can get yourself "flagged" by an overagressive prosecutor or ambulance chaser because you disconnected a safety on a firearm. On the other hand when the FBI ordered BHPs from Wayne the first thing they ordered done to them was removal of the mag safety. The decision is can you justify that your skills and training on the par of the FBI HRT team when it comes to weapons handling?

Now that said.....Wayne (NovakSights.com) does one of the finnest trigger jobs I have even felt on a BHP with a mag safety still installed. So if you decide to keep it, give them a shout.

I just rebuilt a BHP for a friend, and the difference in trigger pull simply by removing the mag safety was tremendous.

Personally, I would take it out, but it will wind up being your call. In this case the BHP would be a range gun for me.

Lots of things to consider. Very hard to get a really nice trigger job with the disconnect, pretty easy with it gone.

    I just recently bought a CD Hi-power.
For the time being I plan on keeping it in.
What I do want to do is disassemble the trigger and polish up the parts.
Also polish the disconnect and the area of the mags that contact the disconnect.

Personaly i would leave it in and have a good trigger job done by novak or another competent smith if it were a carry gun . For a range queen it does not matter .

I took mine out but put it back in. I made sure when I bought my M&P that it had a mag safety. Although the M&P mag safety does not affect trigger pull like the BHP does.

But, to me the mag safety offers far more pluses than negatives.
