Though I don't have experience with the Kahr, it is smaller. But I don't have trouble concealing the XD.

    a kayaker

I used to have a P45 and let me tell you that they are awesome. It was light weight, extremely easy to conceal, hell I never bought a holster for it, I just carried it Mexican style. As far as accuracy and reliability goes it got about 20 thumbs up!!

I currently carry a P45 and love it. I used to have an XD-40 sub-compact. I liked the XD and never had one problem with it. I would buy another one in heartbeat. The only thing I like more about the Kahr is the size. The thiness of the gun just makes it so easy to conceal. Both great guns IMO and I dont think you'll go wrong either way!

I'm sure those Kahr lovers will disagree. But this is my first hand experience.

I was enamoured with the Kahr .45 when it came out and I thought "man, that gun could be carried all the time." It's light and slim and cool! My friend thougth so too, so he bought it before I could.

We went to the range. Every magazine had 2-3 rounds that would not feed properly, some wouldn't eject. He was frustrated and cussing, so he sent it to Kahr. they kept it (i believe 4 weeks) and sent it back to him. The same thing happened. He called them and they were very friendly and told him to send it in again.

He didn't want to have a "long distance relationship" with his handgun, so he traded it on a Sig or an HK.

I searched on google Kahr P45 and there were numerous forum posts about the same problem. The consensus is that Kahr just didn't construct a gun to handle .45acp

I think they LOOK cool, but I can't trust it. If they produced an all stainless like the K-9 it may be OK.

    Hard Choice

I own a Service model XD-45 and have shot the Kahr TP45 but only a few rounds. I can't say anything about the Kahr from the standpoint of reliability but it shoots like a dream. I was really impressed with how quickly it gets back on target for followup shots. I think it would be a bit easier to conceal and lighter to carry. Certainly hits what you are looking at to boot!

I can tell you that the reliability is there. I have shot over 300 rounds through my TP45 over a 3 week period and I have not cleaned her innards yet, yet she keeps on kickin' butt with no argument or backlash. I am going out again tomorrow for another hundred rounds plus...

Personally, I'd go with the Kahr. My PM9 has been 100% reliable. I also have a Glock 36 & a Taurus Mil Pro PT145. I keep going for the Kahr to carry because of its size. It's just so easy to carry & feels good in the hand, not to mention a great DAO trigger.

The XD's nice, but it's a noticeabley larger & heavier gun.

Both are great guns, it's really a matter of your priorities.

    Good luck.

oh...the only thing I found wrong on the Kahr is the checkering on the grip. It is sharp. After 100 rounds, the backstrap will feel like its cutting into your hand. It'll get a lil' raw. You may find that sandpaper will help.
