    Birthday Present -- Shhhhhhhh!

Pssssst! Found the ideal birthday present for my young bride during a visit to Collectors Firearms in Houston (one of the all-time great gun stores).

Colt Cobra .38 Special six-shooter. This was Colt's lightweight version of the Detective Special, which has always been a favorite of mine, preferable to the S&W snubby because of the extra round. This one has just a bit of holster wear, but that just gives a working weapon character. The dealer even threw in a speed loader and a box of Federal Premium Low Recoil 110 gr Hydra-Shok JHPs. It'll be interesting to see how those perform.

My wife has always loved revolvers. In fact, her favorite handgun is the one she calls her "hogleg", a Smith & Wesson Model 10-5. I thought this would be a nice companion to it.

    Just remember, mum's the word . . .

    Cheers,

Nice piece you found for her there! Could I send my wife birthday shopping for me with you sometime?

Oh my - I do like that. In particular love the ''meaty'' grips - that'd suit me fine

I really like those grips, too. I used to have a Detective Special with the same ones and keep looking for another one.

I know what you mean. When it comes to birthdays, I always list "guns" at the top of the list, followed by "ammo", with related items following. My son-in-law understands. Last year, I got a case of .223!
