Need help ID'ing a S&W revolver
Hello everyone,
I might buy a S&W .38, my father in law has shot it and says it shoots really well. I however have not seen it and cant get a model # from him, he says the number 39505 is on the barrel. Can any of you guys help me find what type of revolver this is?
And what a good price would be for it?

Open the cylinder and look on the frame underneath the barrel there should be a model number probably 3 numbers.

Ipac, no offense or criticism intended, but you haven't given us nearly enough information to ID this revolver.
There has to be other markings/numbers on the frame, barrel or butt. The number you gave is probably an assembly number, not the serial number. Look on the bottom of the butt (grip frame) for the SN. The SN should also be stamped on the crane. This is also where you will find the model number, if the revolver was manufactured after 1957.
Pics would be helpful, also.
