Talk me out of an EMP...

... if you can. I'm thinking about making the Springfield EMP my first 1911, and I know it's relatively new. Anyone who has one or has fired one, what do you think?

All of the feedback I've read has been pretty positive. I know Springfield's reputation, and I'm very interested in owning a 1911... I'm just not sure whether I should go with the EMP or with a full size.

Oh, if only I could afford both!

I wish my fairy godmother would put 2 grand under my pillow, then I'd be asking someone to talk me INTO an EMP.

I think it depends do you like the 9mm and do you want compact. For me I got nothing against either but to me if I am handling a 1911 I want a fullsize. If I want a compact then I will look for something else. But, hand size does play a role in it, if the compact is what fits and a full size does not then an emp is well worth a look.

    Just one thought: New Model.

Personally, I'm an early adopter, but you will be more likely to encounter the new model bugs - at least the company isn't likely to leave you twisting in the wind. Might have to send it back to them a few times, but you'll know that it's just visiting home for a few months....

I have never seen this forum even try to talk some one out of buying a gun.

Then again no one has said "I'm buying a Jennings

No, don't buy one for yourself.

    Buy it for me.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.

I've always been a .40 fan, but recently I've started shooting my SW 9mm a lot more, and it's, well... frickin' easy to shoot. The recoil is much less agressive. Hmmm. Maybe I'm talking myself into the full size Springfield 1911...

    Talk you OUT of it?
    Not a chance.
    Those are sweet little handguns.
Ken Lunde's pictures showing the EMP well-dressed with Davidson grips almost had me breaking out a credit card.

There's a few EMP's that show up at the range where I shoot. Their owners seem to have the silly grins of happy gun owners all the time. No problems reported. If I had that much money available though, I'd be thinking of a Commander sized .45 or maybe, both!!!

Hmmm.. talk you out of it?

Sorry brother, but they're beautiful. If I hadn't bought a Micro Compact .45, I'd be carrying an EMP right now.
