I read an interesting article in Handgun Magazine that discussed Bowie Tactical Customizations (BTC) and what they're able to do to customize Glocks. I was originally against the idea but it has since grown on me, especially the stippling and front strap checkering. However, his turn-around time (it's a one-man shop) is 12-14 weeks. That's way too much time w/o my Glock!
I was told about Heritage Firearms by estimber (another member here) and believe it or not- They're in Austin, TX! I was looking at Bowie Tactical, Robar, and Boom-Boom tactical. All had long waits.
I called Tom Snell at Heritage and he gave me some options for grip reduction on my Glock and the turn around was 7-10 days. I absolutely love the way it turned out and would recommend them to anybody.
Your other question- What would you do?
I had a grip reduction, added nite sites, and added a Shock-Buff from Brownells.
Later I bought a used G23 and contoured the front of the slide myself, had the slide and barrel hard chromed and added a Tungsten Guiderod.
For a carry gun- I learned from our friends on this forum it's better to NOT modify the internal components- due to reliability / safety.
Pure stock baby, pure stock. I have thought about putting on some night sites though, but I am not finding a top priority at the moment. Certain democrats... I mean lawmakers have forced me to rearrange my shopping list priorities for the time being.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.
You wouldn't be able to see my mods, but I had a 12 pound "New York" trigger put on my G27. I like a good, stiff trigger, especially when carrying around a gun without an external safety.
My buddy at work just got one of those metal frames for his glock 17 (http://www.ccfraceframes.com/home.php There really cool however they get really hot when shoot them.
