Suprising range results with Kel-Tec P3AT

Went to the range and shot the P3AT on Monday. I have to say, even though this was by far the most uncomfortable gun to put almost 100 rounds through, I now have a lot of confidence with it for carry. I was very surprised at the accuracy considering how crude the "sights" are.

This is 80 rounds, mostly ball ammo but includes 15 shots with Hydra Shocks and 15 shots with Winchester Silvertips. Ranges were 3, 7 & 10 yards.

This is with the Glock 29. Two shots to the left are first two shots. I've never owned a Glock or a 10mm so I didn't know what to expect and I had a death grip on the gun and pulled them to the left. This is a total of 50 rounds shot at standard Texas CHL standards. (20) at 3 yards, (20) at 7 yards and (10) at 15 yards.

I'm happy with both. That 10mm is a hoot to shoot. First few rounds that I ripped down range had people backing out of there lanes and looking my way wondering what in the heck I was shooting. The look on their faces was priceless.

Nice report, and good shooting. Yeah I did the same first time I touched off my buddie's G29 10MM can be quite stout & NOISY.

Looks like you had it under control.

I love my P3 AT, always in my pocket. My Glocks ride on my hip, got four choose from in 9mm & 40SW

The 29 was not as bad as I thought it would be. It's much snappier than my 45s, but still very controllable. But then again, I was shooting some mild range loads. I have some Double Tap loads coming that will be considerably hotter.

I also love my P3AT. Was at the range yesterday, finishing off the break in period. Not a single malfunction of any kind. After reading hundreds of posts, yea and nay, I was expecting at least some kind of issue, but it was flawless. This little guy is a hoot to shoot. I solved the chewed up hand problem with a golf glove. It also helps to keep my fingers from getting pinched when loading the mag. I really didn't expect to like this gun, but it is definitely a keeper.

Mine functioned flawlessly too. The guys at the shop told me it wouldn't shoot the Hydra Shocks that it would FTF but it ate them with no failures at all. This was the first time it's ever been shot.

You're my hero. You'll have to divulge the secret for withstanding 100rds at one time through the P3AT. I'm stumped, and that's the truth.

Nicely, it just keeps on tickin'. A great little backup, go-everywhere unit. Took it to various doctor appoinments today. It never made a peep, just layin' there unknown to anyone. Like it should be. Great little gun.

Mine did FTF on the hydra shock. So I carry Silvertips.

Well, I said almost 100 rounds.
I work construction so my hands are a bit calloused. My trigger finger was numb for a while though. I put another 50 rounds through it today with the same results, but I guess I adjusted my grip a little and it didn't seem to bother me as bad. I want to put 4-500 rounds through it before I trust it 100%.

    I Use Silvertips In Mine...

And in 4 years I have never had a problem with my P-3AT..
I have never 'enjoyed' shooting it at the range!

Nice compact, easy to conceal, handgun...

    Stay armed...stay safe!

yep, as others have already said - I hate shooting it, beats the heck out of my finger, but do practice occasionally with it. It's a great little gun though, as thin and small as it is for a pocket BUG or primary in very light summer wear.

I rarely put more than 50 rounds per range visit through my P3AT, but only because of the cost. I love to shoot it and would shoot it more if ammo was cheaper. I will admit that the smallish grip takes a little getting used to, and there are some sharp edges that I have smooth down.

Congrats on a fine little pistol, and the good shooting~!

My KEL-TEC P3AT rode in the rear right pocket on my Carhartt
shorts today, while making a family outing trip to the Birmingham
Zoo. No one ever even knew I had it~! Great guns for the price.
