    My new Smith & Wesson SW1911 108303

Here are some pics of my newly arrived S&W 1911. It is real purdy. I hope to put up a range report when I go to the range this weekend, but don't expect anything too lavish. This is my first 1911 so I am very excited to take it out, but not horribly knowledgeable about the intricacies of 1911's to give a detailed review.

Congrats on your first 1911. I'm certain you will like the platform, and do you know what that means? You'll have to get a few more!

So here it goes...a very brief range report. Today I went to my local indoor range for my first break-in session and boy was I impressed. Now this is literally my first time shooting a 1911 and am I sold on the platform. Trigger pull was so smooth and the gun just pointed naturally. First shot at about 8 yards...bullseye! The weight of the gun and the barrel length really keep the 45 tamed. I didn't have any feed problems and went through 100 rounds of .45's. Half were rounds from Independence and the other were Remington, both FMJ. Grouping was about the size of my fist and I am not an accuracy shooter (I train to stay on the torso of my blueman target). I am sure with some more practice and a few hundred more rounds through the gun, this will be a VERY accurate weapon. This one is certainly a keeper!

Btw...I just finished cleaning the gun and breakdown is a pain in the a**! I shot a spring across the room. I guess that is the only negative so far, and that is minor.

Congratulations on your purchase, as the S&W 1911's are some of
the best kept secrets in the 1911 market. I have a 108282, basic
stainless 5" myself, and believe it or not it shoots right along side
my more expensive 5" Les Baer TRS with good results.
