Welcome from the wrong side of the Red River (Texas). At my previous agency, I carried a Springfield Operator (the origional ones with the full length dust cover light rail) and as heavy as it was, it still carried well.

If for some reason you ever decide you dont like that Kimber Compact Stainless II, let me know. Unless I can find a Colt Gunsite CCO for a really good price, I'll prob be buying one. To me the ultimate concealed carry weapon is the 1911 CCO format, with the Commander slide and Officers model frame. One day I'll win the lottery and the next day I'll be calling Nighthawk Custon T3.

I have a S&W Scandium (lightweight) Commander that I had Bobtailed, and a Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail. It conceals better than my 3" Kimber Ultra Carry II and has an additional round. I love the way my Bobtails perform and feel in my hand, so well that I have a Colt Lightweight Commander XSE being Bobtailed as we speak. A Lightweight Bobtailed Commander 1911 is, IMHO, the best of the gun world.

I have been carrying my CD Hi-power lately. Can join your club? :)

I find a longer barreled pistols tend to stay put longer. My Kel-Tec seems to get pushed up out of my waist band more.

Welcom. I've carried a 1911 for years and have never had a problem carrying. Heck I carry one with a surefire x200 in a Bladetech holster and still have no problem concealing.
