Hi, my name is Mike and I'm an addict.

Your response should be, "Hi, Mike."

Background: Have had a couple of guns over the years, starting with a .22 rife as a kid, the occasional shotgun, and a .25 Beretta and S&W .38 I inherited from my dad. But, other than occasionally 'plinking,' never did much with any of them.

After some death threats a while back, I began to think seriously about self-defense. Then came the VT murders and that did it.
    I picked up my S&W M&P 9c May 1.

I couldn't wait to get it out and shoot the next day. The smell of gunpowder, the sore thumb from loading the mag, the blood from where the slide 'bit' me. Unnnhh, unnhh, unnhh, unh, unh!!! (Think Tim Allen on 'Home Improvment').

Last night I stripped and cleaned my gun. I put it back together and it even worked!

I couldn't wait to go out again. I went to the range again today, put another 200 rounds into silhouettes (and one Osama bin Laden target I picked up online), and talked to other shooters.

Now, I am absolutely hooked. I can't wait to read this forum, went looking for books on guns at the local used bookstores, and I am starting to look for my next gun. I am trying to figure out if I can get to the range again before I take my concealed carry class on Wednesday.

    I need help!

Anybody out there who can help me?

    Hi Mike

Here is a good book to read to help you out and keep you busy between range shooting.

The bes (and worst ) help you can get is sitting down and read the forum. The best of it is the experinces shared with everybody, tips, estrategies, etc. It will open your eyes and change your lifestyle ...as the responsability of owning and carrying firearms should.

The worse is that we wont stop you from buying more guns!

Hi Mike. The only cure is more of what bit you. Buy 2,000 rounds of ammo and shoot it up in 1 day, you will be cured for about 2 days, repeat as needed.

    Hi Mike
I hate to tell you but there is no known cure G.A.S. (gun acquisition syndrome). You must embrace the urge and spend many hours here reading and learning from many years of knowledge that the members poses.

Hi Mike! I share your pain and I too am an addict. Having to live each day wanting a fix, the glassy eyed stare when I visit my local pusher (gun shop), going to the shooting gallery for a fix (pistol range). Doing my best to hide that monkey on my hip (XD .40). We can all share your pain. We are here for you Mike.
