    Smith & Wesson sw40ve

I just recently Got a new carry Gun. Just lookin for some ups and downs you may know or heard on the 40 cal smith & wesson sigma series . The gun feels really good for carry, but realiabilty may be another thing or the most important thing when your life depends on it. It seems to be easily concealed but I like to cover my bases. PS I know it may be a Glock Clone. Thanks .

Fire it a lot before you carry it, this is good advice with any gun but with the Sigma it might also help break in the trigger.
I would put at least 500 rounds of FMJ and 200 JHP before I put it on the belt.
If it does all that and there's no problems then you have a winner, if you decide you don't like it after 100 rounds then you have to decide what to do regarding trade or sell.
They probably aren't as bad as people say, but IMO most buyers looking at similar guns go for the newer S&W M&P, even tough it costs nearly double.

I've been shooting a SW40VE for almost two years now. I have yet to experience a malfunction and I've put about 900 rounds of many different kinds of ammo through it.

Wolf makes a striker spring that will reduce the trigger pull down to around 8 pounds. I recently put one in and have shot about 150 rounds through it with no malfunctions.

Trijicon makes night sights for it, which I just recently installed.

    I'll be keeping my Sigma.

It seems to be one of those guns you either love or hate. I almost bought one, I mean you cant beat the price on them and it's a S&W. The only reason I didn't is because it seemed a little big (at least for me) for a EDC. And at the time that was what I was shopping for. I still might just pick up one for a range plinker.

My 40VE has 3500+ trouble free rounds down range. It is a reliable gun and if your use to DAO guns and DA revolvers then you will have no problem with the trigger.

It will teach you trigger control and sight alignment to make you shoot all your other guns well.

Keep asking questions and enjoy your 40VE.

I liked them too. Grip felt good in my hand but, everything I have ever heard about them is that they are not reliable. Jam-o-matics.

I hope yours is a good one. Let us know will you?

I had one and had absolutely no problems at all with it. The long DA trigger takes a little getting used to, but other than that, it felt better in the hand than my Glock. I traded it back in on a CZ100 that I wanted. Wish I had just put the CZ in lay-away and hung on to the S&W. After you shoot it a little the trigger gets some better, but never real light.

Not sure about the .40, but I have a SW9VE, that has performed flawlessly, even with HP's.

The trigger is on the heavy side, but if you can get used to it then its all good to go.

For the price I think its a pretty decent weapon.
