Kimber info needed (Title changed)

Pssst....I changed the title. Decided on a Kimber instead of a stock no frills Colt CCO.

Ok. Fixing to do the deed. Just put a Kimber Custom Compact II on hold and I get to pick it up Friday.

Now some questions for ya'al. I know it comes with a full length guide rod, but am curious if any of you have changed that out for a standard guide rod.

Finally, three mag questions. I've always used Wilson mags but think I can remember someone saying that Kimber pistols dont love them. Anyone have that expereince. Also who makes the KimPro mags? Finally...for those of you who have experience with Novak's mags, will a Wilson base pad work on them? Wilson makes the best pad for covering the space between a standard mag.

I've used Wilson mags in my full size Kimber without any issues.

OTOH, a guy I shoot with has had issues with them.

I use the 8 round wilson mags. I love them and highly recommend them.

Custom Compact has a 4" bull bbl, your stuck with the rod.

I've used mainly Wilsons in all of my .45 1911s.

The CDP Compact loved them. I beleve that the TAC mags are of Chip McCormick design, I think Kimber is now making thier own mags, but I'm not sure so don't quote me on it.
