I have two 1911's and two sigs and a wife that doesn't shoot much. I really love my sigs. I have no complaints with my 1911s. Do I stay with the status quo or trade the 1911s in for say a P220 and a P239?
I figure if I go with just one configuration it will be easier to raise her comfort level and will eventually be easier to train my son. She is competent with her revolver, but I want her to be confident with all of the weapons she might be called upon to use.

I think you should trade me a 1911 for my Ruger P345, personally!
Gun Control means never having to say "I missed you."

- Kel-Tec p3at (.380)
- Beretta 96FS (.40)

I will take a 1911 for the 9mm S&W Sigma I have in my safe collecting dust.
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

There's definitely something to be said for having the same function on all of your handguns. All training would be equal. If you don't want the 1911's sitting around and don't use them, I'd say go for it.
Although, I'd probably recommend selling them instead of going for a trade. Normally you get hit pretty hard in trades at the store.

+1 Agreed, I found this from personal experience. I wanted to trade in a Glock and a gentleman I had been on the range with a few times saw me & offered $120 more than I would have gotten in trade.

BLASPHEMY! ...Seriously though...If you're determined to get rid of them...don't trade them. Sell them. You'll get much more out of the deal. 1911's in good shape usually still fetch a good price.
