The key to your dilemna, however, is that you really want the Colt. Wait the 4 weeks. Then look at them both, side-by-side. That way, you won't second-guess yourself. Then buy both of them!

With a 4 week wait you may just come up with an additional grand for both of them, just make sure you have a few hundred for ammo... shooting new guns is so much fun...you can never bring too much ammo...

+1 on the Colt. You have waited this long, what's an extra 4 weeks? It will fit nicely with your other Colt's.

I'd buy the kimber. I have one in .45, love it and would buy another any day.

    I've never owned a colt.

I'm a 38 super guy and both are good guns. The colt will hold value later in life. There are also some other makers you might check out if its just the 38 super you want and dont want the 1911 frame.

Yea, Im after the 38 super mainly, but Id rather stick with the Colt just because Ive got several already. I would like to think Im somewhat brand-loyal. I've pretty much made up my mind on the Colt. Unless something else comes up in the next 24 hours, I'll order it tomorrow.

I own 5 Kimbers and 1 Colt. Go with the Colt my friend, you will not be disappointed, and as most have said, will hold it's value for sure. I have never lost anything when selling a Colt if I had to.

    Late Entry Here...

I like my Kimber's...I have a Pro and a Ultra...BUT...if you get the Compact, you have the shorter grip of the Ultra (a little easier to conceal) and the 4" bbl of the Pro...

You made your choice already.....you said you'd rather wait for the Colt. If you go for the Kimber now, you'll kick youself later.

38 Super? IMO, Colt is the only way to go....It's a classic pairing

I am lost on the thread , the .38 sup is a round i would only have on a true bbq gun . It isnt necessairly brand specific but imho needs to be dressed up as a formal wear firearm .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .

I've never had to "break in" any of my Colt semi-autos. The fired perfectly from day 1.

    Get the Kimber!

In my opinion they're definitely sexier and sportier than the old Colt brand. But then again, you may have sentimental ties to the Colt brand...
