Could I get some advice from you guys?

I am finally going to buy a .38 super. Im so happy! I've wanted one since I was a kid (a long time ago) so Im not waiting anymore. I was at the shop today and checking them out. I narrowed it down to 2, a Stainless Colt Commander, and a Stainless Kimber PRo Carry HD (which is the 4in barrel). The Kimber is 905.00 and the Colt is 940.00. The Kimber is available Tuesday, the Colt is 4 weeks out. Everything else being equal, which one would you rather have?

I already have a Stainless MKIV Series 80, and a Defender in .45. So, I really want the Colt. I've never had any Kimbers and obviously Im leary of them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.

I've never had a Kimber, but I've usually heard good things about them. That said, I'd wait for the Colt...if you don't, you'll probably regret it.

Normally I would say the Kimber... but since we are talking about a 38 super it just wouldnt seem right if it wasnt a Colt.

I'd wait for the Colt........I'ts residual value will far outweight the Kimber down the road..........both are fine handguns and they have the same ergonomics........but I'd wait for the Colt......

I have two Colts. A 1911 Officers Model and one day about 12 years ago, I just stumbled into a deal for a Colt AR-15 A2 Govt. Carbine. I have many friends who have Bushmasters and other clones... and the others are all great AR's, one or two even shoots better than mine... But they all drool over the Colt!

Someday I'll get that Flat Top upper for it that I've been dying to have. But for now, it's all Colt! (And the colt will tend to hold it's value better)

I'm not even a 1911 Guru - but Colt for me - it has to be worth the wait.

Colt. I'm not a Kimber fan, their style just doesn't do it for me.

Stainless Colt Commander in 38 Spr - Good resale value down the road and it's hard to beat a Colt Commander.
The Colts are coming through looking really nice now. The few I've seen recently.

WOW!! The response has been totally one sided. I never would have thought it. I would rather have the Colt too, so I guess 4 weeks isnt tooo bad However, I have yet to find an steel Commander on their website. I really dont want a lightweight version when shooting the hottter 38 super and maybe the 9x23 later on. I may have to look into the full size stainless Government.

I've gone with what's available before just because I wanted it now and I always regret it. Wait and get what you really want and you'll be happier for a long time.

You could get the Kimber, and then trade it in for the Colt when that becomes available...as long as you end up with the Colt I think you'll be happy.

The lightweight isn't that light. I have no trouble putting 100+ rounds in a range session through my Lightweight Commander in .45. But if you're looking at purely a range gun, a steel framed Government would be a better choice.

Kevin- If you've waited since you were a kid... wait a couple more weeks for the Colt!
