    New XD40 Tomorrow

Well after a lot of phone calls over the last two days, I managed to track down an XD40 subcompact. It seems that it is popular gun right now up here in Northern MN, as nobody seemed to have one or could even find one from a supplier. After I get back from my little road trip to pick it up tomorrow afternoon I'll take a shot at posting some pictures.

Seems one of several guns these days that is selling fast - M&P's seem to be same.

I think you'll be joining a growing club and hopefully be well pleased.

You're gonna love that gun. I got one 2 months ago. I dont carry it yet, I'm waiting on my Dakota Defender holster. I've got almost 500 rounds through it. Its a beast.

The Sub Compact is a good size and carries nicely. I have the 9mm in Sub Compact and Service as well as a Service .45. I carry the .45 when I can wear a jacket or heavier clothing.

I just picked up the 45 Compact last week and I must admit that the gun is very nice and fast becoming my favorite to shoot, I got it with TFO's already on so I am pretty set up. I as well don't carry it yet, waiting on holsters but I can't wait until I get too. I believe that it will be my EDC choice.

I carry the XD9 SC and I love that weapon. You cant beat 16 +1 and still have the accuracy and fire power you need. I also have the compact XD .45 GAP, that is a good weapon too, but thinking of getting rid of it due to it being a GAP because of ammo prices & availability. But it is a great weapon!! Better yet NAAAAH, I love my .45 I just dont have to take it to the range that often. My next weapon for carry I'm thinking of getting is the Kimber Ultra CDP II.

Let us know how the 40 shoots. Im curious and thinking of getting one myself. Love and trust my service XD. Sometimes it is hard to believe its a 45 when shooting...then you see the big holes in the target....and yeah it is.

    Enjoy!

I'm amazed, frankly, that everyone is jumping on S&W products after two things:
    - the Sigma
    and
    - their deal with Clinton.

Is it really true that S&W is essentially no longer under the ownership/management of the jerks who caved in to the antis? And how's the overall quality of the company's output at this point?

I've read lots of feedback about XDs -- almost all of it positive. Lots of people seem to love those guns!

When I looked at an XD at the gun show, it appeared that the extractor is on the top-rear of the ejection port. Is that the case? I didn't see it fire, and I didn't cycle any ammunition through it -- I just looked it over at the table. Does the spent brass go over the top?

Would someone please explain that aspect of the XD series? Thanks.

No, that is the loaded chamber indicator, not the extractor..

Mine fires brass consistently to the right, as it should..
