Don't get me wrong I'm a firm believer in dry fire practice. I believe it to be an indespensable of the trigger control learning process.
In this case during IDPA matches, it's not about dry fire practice. It is about safety.

Right. I get that. It's just that you've already done all this, "The IDPA events I've been at. At the end of stage. Drop mag. Rack slide multiple times (ejecting round), lock action open, inspect for clear, let RSO (whatever the title is) inspect for clear", It would seem to be enough. Not that it's a big deal. I don't have a problem with it I just don't understand why it's necessary after all the other checks. I'd still do it if I was participating in an IDPA being as it's thier rule. I wouldn't complain about it either. If we had not already disscussed it here though I sure would have asked about it. Again I would fallow the rules.
“You come at me with a sword and with a spear. But I come at you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you". 1 Samuel 17, 45-46
