Has the Taurus PT1911 gone up in price?
I went to Sportsmans Warehouse today, to pick up some practice ammo for my Glock 19, and of course I couldn't help but stop at the gun counter to do some drooling! They had 1 Taurus PT1911 in stock, and I asked to look at it. It felt nice in my hands, and the sights were great. I looked at the price tag, and my heart sank when I found out they were asking $779
I can get a Springfield Loaded Model for a few bucks more. Anyone know for sure if the Taurus 1911 is about the same price as other semi-custom 1911s now?

Yep. Taurus now has the listed MSRP for the blued PT1911 at $703 and the listed MSRP for the stainless PT1911 at an even $800.
As I recall, when they first came out, the MSRP was in the $600 range. So I would say that they have raised the price. I kind of expected this once we saw how very popular they were with everyone. Why wouldn't they raise the price? They have a hard time keeping the dealers supplied with enough of them to keep pace with demand.

Darn it! Well I'm gonna pass on the Taurus 1911 then, and go straight for a Springfield Loaded Black Stainless Steel.

Statements like this should be forwarded to Taurus...to persaude them to lower their prices. I finally got to see one, it was a blued model with night sights and a price tag of $699. After realizing that the prices had gone up, I too, decided that I would go with a Springfield as well.

Wow that's crazy. My local guy has one for 499. Of course it doesn't have night sights but those can be added later.

Now, there are some models hitting the market with nightsights pre-installed, and a model with Laser Grips installed that are significantly more than the base model. If they are trying to sell the base model for that much, they are price gouging. Check out:
Bud's Gun Shop or Impact Guns, and of course Gun Broker has piles of them.

Then it was going up

WTHeck, that price went up in the last week. No way am I spending that much ($800 MSRP) on a Stainless PT1911. When I got mine in October and they could hardly be found, I thought I had overpaid by about $50, now I guess what I paid ($517+ Uncle Sam) would be a steal.

My Brother Bud is in the know.
The PT1911 was formerly my number one choice in a budget 1911. Now I am back to the RIA and the SA Loaded.
It was fun while it lasted.

Geez, just a month ago I got a GLOCK 22 with two 15 round magazines for only $529 plus tax!

Nope.
I bought one at $499, and it's one hell of a gun. It's like a full custom, straight from the factory.
The only downside is a very non-durable finish.
Even in the $700 range, it's worth it.
By the time you've done all the work on a Springfield to match the Taurus PT1911, you'll have spent twice as much.
