The part of the sight that slides into the sight cuts on the slide.

I was just wondering because I have never had to file a set of XS Sights before.

I've gotten in the habit of putting a light taper on the leading edge, before I tap in a rear sight. Also learned to check for high spots on the bottom (not with XS, though).

    FINALLY... the Range report

    Disclaimer...

Less than three days ago my shooting hand looked like this....

I pulled a tendon in my hand and while it's been feeling better and I've been trying to take it easy I thought I would venture into a little shooting today.

My first magazine at 7 yards from my 3" Kimber 1911 Ultra CDP .45 with the XS night sights looked like this...

Then I took it out to 15 yards and put another seven rounds through the gun (indicated by the hash marks on the target). By about the fourth or fifth round through that magazine my hand started to hurt again. I loaded up five more rounds through it (indicated by the half moons) and saw my accuracy going down because of the pain.

Brought the target back in to seven yards and put five more agonizing rounds through it...

In short... it's not the sights.. The sights are FABULOUS.. It's the shooter.

These are great sights. When practicing drawing I'm very pleased with the sight acquisition and I'm also pleased with my shooting (when I'm not in pain).

I would certainly recommend these sights!

Once you spend a few months with those sites I would love to hear an update.

Please do take care of that hand. I had carpal tunnel surgery last year on both hands so was down from shooting for a little over 12 weeks. Take it slow and don't push to hard.

If you're going with the old pumpkin on a post, then a big pumpkin is better.

Get the big-dot, you won't be sorry. I've had mine for about 6 months now (give or take) and really love them. I saw an increase in speed and the ease with which I acquire the target from the first mag I shot after putting them on.

Check out this thread...one of the guys did a side-by-side comparison between factory Glock sights and XS Big-dots. Very interesting...(the "shoot off" between the different sights starts on post #2 of the thread).
