$ is no object...BEST 45 ACP for CCW

I'm sure this string has been done to death. But my search here hasen't found it and being new to this site I'd love your opinions on what you feel is the over all top, best, most reliable, accurate, nicest to shoot, etc etc etc, 45 ACP available anywhere for CCW old, new, whatever you REALLy like price being no object.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.

Not to downplay the nice 1911's - SIG 220 is always worthy IMO of inclusion in such a choice.

This may sound strange but for me it is the XD 45 compact. Works every time the trigger is pulled. Shoots to point of aim. Fits like a glove. What more could any one ask for?

    Agreed.

As well odds are your CCW will never see anything but range time anyway as unlike say Australia the vast majority of Americans in their lifetime never see or have need for a defensive arm. And if you do odds are great that it will be confiscated from you and retained by the state through your criminal trial, which one is very likely to go through even if totally in the right, and have a possibility of it being kept after the trial or even destroyed by the state you're in.

So with that why spend large and long dollars on a CCW pistol?
Aside from the fun of doing so and being able to make your friends drool with envy.

    - Janq's two CCW 1911s as a set totalled less than a grand and are both dead accurate

I would have to agree with the XD .45 Compact. Flawless in function, accurate, carries 10 or 13 rnd magazine and easy to conceal.

I would go with a " Hurtyourhandieum " S$W 5" or 5" springer lightweight , and pack it off to yost , wilson , or other great smith for a reliability duty package on the action . That gives you light weight , dead nutz reliable and full sight plane to deal with. I know its not just over the counter , but you asked so i answered about MY ultimate 1911 , but remember i tend to think less is many times more for a fighting pistol .

Can't argue with that one too much.
I will support gun control when you can guarantee all guns are removed from this planet. That includes military and law enforcement. When you can accomplish that, then I will be the last person to lay down my gun. Then I will carry the weapon that replaces the gun.

+1 on the XD Compact. Completely reliable, accurate, easy to conceal, and versatile (10 or 13 round mags).
